Hinder - Take It To The Limit
Hinder just won't let the 80's be forgotten. Don't believe me??? Give a listen to "Loaded and Alone" and I promise that you will find yourself singing "Living On A Prayer". Or better yet, press your luck (just don't stop on a Whammy) and spin "Without You".....Hey Hinder, Cheap Trick called and wants "The Flame" back! And no 80's album would be complete without a guest appearance from Motley Crue's very own resident evil, Mick Mars(check out "Take It To The Limit"). But don't worry, the band still does wh
Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone
As far as I'm concerned, the only musical artists that deserve to wear makeup and costumes on stage are David Bowie, Kiss, Alice Cooper, and Marilyn Manson. Other than that it just looks like Halloween threw up on the local dive bar. GWAR??? Insane Clown Posse?? Mudvayne??.................It's just plain sad. So why Slipknot finds it necessary to play rock and roll masquerade is beyond me. These guys are actually talented and most definitely rock you like a hurricane; they don't need a gimmick, just less band me
Buckcherry - Black Butterflly
If you don't like Buckcherry then you don't like rock and roll....Print it. In an industry full of wanna be's and has beens, Buckcherry remain true to their AC/DC / GNR infused musical stylings and do their forefathers proud. These guys aren't about artistic exploration and making the world a better place....we have U2 for that. In fact, you would be much more likely to find these guys at the Seventh Veil than a Habitat for Humanity softball game. Coming off the surprise breakout, "Fifteen", (apparently the
Metallica - Death Magnetic
Group therapy.....relationship counseling??? Does that sound like a band or a marriage that is one step away from Dr. Phil's casting couch? "St. Anger" was truly an awful, awful album that can be proudly compared to other catastrophic rock band let downs such as Kiss', "The Elder". The one difference is............it was even worse!!!!!!! Let's face it, the only semi-redeeming quality of "St. Anger" was the album cover. So could the band once informally referred to as "Alcoholica" be dried up like a blist
Zebrahead - Phoenix
Over the past 10 years, Zebrahead has consistently output their very own Calabassas, CA blend of "The Offspring meets 311 at the skate park", high octane rock. Although very popular in Japan ("Phoenix" debuted at #1), they have somehow avoided mainstream US audiences. Not even a promotion with Playboy suporting 2000's radio friendly "Playmate of the Year" got them any "endless love"......And Playboy is to American male adolescents, what Canasta is to your grandma's retirement community.
"Phoenix" contains 16 tra
Nine Inch Nails - The Slip
Trent Reznor is as prolific an artist as any out there.....outside of Ani Difranco who seems to put out an album for every season (turn, turn, turn. With the Internet's low barrier to entry (if you have a computer and a MySpace account, you at least have "Tom" as a virtual friend/fan), distribution of music has never been easier. Computer savvy artists no longer have to focus on the long coveted "record deal" to make it big and can now focus on churning out artistically satisfying music in the comforts of their p
The Rosewood Thieves - From the Decker House
I'm still listening to this album now as I write the review as I'm a little lost for words, these guys have a great presence in the flavor of the Beatles and John Lennon but it's a crowded and fierce area of music to be trying to make your living. Especially since you still have to compete with the Beatles for listeners :) But you listen to them and tell me they don't give you that feeling that your listening to a 2008 version of what the Beatles may have been. These guys seem to have that down home folk feel wi
Candlebox - Into The Sun
Candlebox rocks! (.com)
Go ahead and make your jokes about how they are a one hit wonder, glam rock/grunge wannabe flash in the pan band that has contributed nothing more to the music community other than a popular power ballad ("Far Behind"). Sticks and stones may break my bones......
The fact of the matter is Candlebox oozes thoughtful, soulful, hard/pop rock like a snail in a saline foot bath! With a conversational style reminiscent of an open mic poetry session, Kevin Martin delivers passionate, heart fel
U2 Live From Paris
U2 I grew up on these guys I don’t remember a time when I didn’t like what I heard from U2’s music and this album is no exception. They play some of their best old stuff along with some of the good new stuff, the Live in Paris album was a great find especially if you don’t have all or even most of the previous work, but that’s all this is previous work they are are selling you again. Oh and don’t forget that while they are re-selling you the same music you already own they want to sell you on their idea’s too..
Lust Lust Lust
I simply love this album, not one song, two songs but the entire album. Take 60’s beach guitar sound, add gritty sand to the sweet melodies and you are taken on a ride where each song is in itself different but has a taste of the song before it, bringing you to the end where you are let off at “Honey, I Never Had You”, ready to buy another ticket and ride again. The many onion-like layers of this album produce a sound that promises to not disappoint but instead draws you in and prompts you to sing along – you won
