Candlebox - Into The Sun

Candlebox rocks! (.com)

Go ahead and make your jokes about how they are a one hit wonder, glam rock/grunge wannabe flash in the pan band that has contributed nothing more to the music community other than a popular power ballad ("Far Behind"). Sticks and stones may break my bones......

The fact of the matter is Candlebox oozes thoughtful, soulful, hard/pop rock like a snail in a saline foot bath! With a conversational style reminiscent of an open mic poetry session, Kevin Martin delivers passionate, heart felt vocals that captivate the listener. All the while, guitarist Peter Klett rips out distorted, bluesy licks that compliment the lyrical attack like a sycophant at a company holiday party. Seriously, Klett has such a beautiful tone and the sustain like a marathon runner(notes ring for miles and miles), that he should run for mayor of "I deserve to be recognized as a guitar god" town.

And when it is all said and done, the songs are just freakin' good! After 10 years apart, Candlebox has arguably produced their greatest work to date. There are no apologies or attempt to conform.....just 4 of "Seattle's best" making the music they want.
