Metallica - Death Magnetic

Group therapy.....relationship counseling??? Does that sound like a band or a marriage that is one step away from Dr. Phil's casting couch? "St. Anger" was truly an awful, awful album that can be proudly compared to other catastrophic rock band let downs such as Kiss', "The Elder". The one difference is............it was even
worse!!!!!!! Let's face it, the only semi-redeeming quality of "St. Anger" was the album cover.

So could the band once informally referred to as "Alcoholica" be dried up like a blister in the sun? Thankfully not! "Death Magnetic" brings back the Metallica of old.............riff after riff after riff.... Songs easily clear the 5 minute mark and are not only chock full of Kirk Hammett's guitar solos, but even include the resurgence of Lars Ulrich's double bass thunder!! Why the band itself has deemed "Death Magnetic" to fall musically somewhere between "And Justice For All" and the "Black" album. A comfortable place for it to reside considering the popularity of those albums.

One thing I really enjoy about "Death Magnetic" is the guitar tones. They are so thick and chunky, they would bring a smile to Mrs. McNabb herself!

Welcome home (Sanitarium) Metallica! We dub you forgiven!

Highlights include:

"That Was Just Your Life"
"End Of The Line"
"The Unforgiven III"
