Narrow Stairs

I've heard Death Cab before and always liked them, but never once thought they were a breakout band for me. That all changed with "Narrow Stairs".

It's not the best top-to-bottom album I've heard, not even in 2008, but still it has a solid place in my rotation. Overall, the album has a very seesaw feel to it with some "pop-y" songs, some instrumental songs, and some of the best lyrical songs I've heard in a while.

That said, there was one track that I thought was weird. Maybe this was due to the digital purchase and we'll be seeing more of this as time goes on, but a complete track dedicated to credits????... Why??

It annoys me that at the end of a great album I have to move to not ruin it with the credits. Yeah, yeah....I know they deserve to have their names mentioned and I could AND should just delete it, but it's the principality of it all Smokey!! I shouldn't have to delete the track at all!

Two song's that really stick out for me and that you should listen to before passing judgment:

"Bixby Canyon Bridge"
"Grapevine Fires"

Having both of these songs on the same album show just how good these guys really are. The mellow "Grapevine Fires" with it's great melody and lyrics and "Bixby Canyon Bridge" with it's up-tempo beat and great guitar show me all I need to know to become a believer.

Pick it up via the iTunes link below and keep checking back for more music!
